Science Curriculum
The Science Curriculum is divided into two semester modules. In 7th grade, the semester one module is Earth as a System. The second semester module is Engineering the Future. In 8th grade, the first semester module is Biochemistry and Survival. The second semester module is Genetics, Survival, and Change Over Time. Even though the curriculum is divided this way, through the implementation of Common Core and the Next Generation Science Standards, students get a very integrated experience in a wide variety of sciences.
Furthermore, collaboration and integration with Math, Social Studies, and Language Arts allows students to experience the mathematical, societal, economic, and communicative relationships between science and the world at large. Click on the links below to view the current Chandler Unified School District Science Standards for your child's grade level. I have also provided a syllabus of the concepts your child will learn throughout each unit. The amount of time spent on each concept may vary depending on the depth in which we explore the topics, on student interest and direction, and on the students' attainment of and proficiency with the concepts. |
